Educational Assessments

Psycho-educational assessments can determine whether you have a learning disability (and qualify for accommodations), ADHD, or a psychological problem, such as anxiety or depression, that is impacting your learning or performance.  Some people have always suspected that they had a learning disability or ADHD and do not get a proper diagnosis until they are in college, graduate school, or the workplace. An assessment, the feedback session, and its accompanying report can identify what is interfering with your performance or learning and what can help you be more successful.

  • In some cases, parents or clients do not wish to know IQ scores. In such a case, their version of the report does not include the numerical score but rather provides the range in descriptive terms.

Do you offer Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)?

  • Yes. An IEE is a psycho-educational evaluation performed by a qualified professional who is not employed by the school or intermediate unit.  Dr. Romirowsky is not employed by any school district or intermediate unit (which makes her independent) and is qualified to perform independent educational evaluations.

Why would I need an IEE or independent psycho-educational evaluation?

  • If you are not satisfied with the school district’s assessment
  • If additional information is needed or the assessment was incomplete
  • To use for a Due Process Hearing
  • If you have questions about the school program or progress and want guidance from someone not employed by your school district
  • The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) gives students the right to be  evaluated independently

Who can receive a psycho-educational assessment or IEE?

  • The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) gives every student the legal right to be evaluated by a qualified professional outside the school district.
  • For more information about parent’s rights to an IEE.
